Men's Basketball Team Scores Big in Community Outreach
Paramus, NJ – The Bergen Community College basketball team demonstrated the power of leadership and community engagement with a meaningful visit to a local classroom. Under the guidance of Coach Luke Gomez, team members spent the day fostering connections, spreading joy, and making a lasting impact on students and staff alike.
The visit began with the team bringing refreshments—donuts and juice—for students and faculty, followed by a heartfelt gesture: each student was presented with a brand-new basketball as a token of the team's dedication to inspiring the next generation.
Coach Gomez, well-known for his personable and motivational leadership style, led the initiative. However, the day's highlights came from the players themselves. they engaged with students throughout the day, participating in lively conversations during a celebratory party and taking to the gym for soccer and basketball games. Their energy and enthusiasm transformed the event into a memorable experience for all involved.
"Seeing our players connect with the students in such an authentic and meaningful way was incredible," said Coach Smith "They went above and beyond to engage and inspire. My students are already asking when the team can return."
"Yesterday, we may not have secured a victory on the court, but we certainly achieved a win off the court, This visit was more than just an opportunity to give back—it was a reminder of the team's core values of sportsmanship, character, and community involvement." said Coach Luke.
The Bergen Community College basketball team's commitment to making a difference reflects the mission of Bergen Athletics: to inspire and empower both on and off the court. Their impactful visit exemplifies the program's dedication to fostering community growth, connection, and positive change.
