Bergen Men’s Basketball Earns 90–78 Road Victory at Luzerne County
NANTICOKE, Pa. – The Bergen Community College men's basketball team delivered a strong all-around performance on the road, defeating Luzerne County Community College 90–78 on Saturday afternoon.
Bergen controlled the tempo throughout the contest, taking a 44–39 lead into halftime before outscoring Luzerne 46–39 in the second half to secure the victory. The Bulldogs shot an efficient 47.8 percent from the field and an impressive 50 percent from three-point range, while also holding a decisive 51–26 advantage on the glass.
Evan Meberg led Bergen with a game-high 20 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the field and knocking down three three-pointers. Jayden Rivera provided a spark off the bench, finishing with 16 points, including 7-of-10 shooting from the free-throw line. Jeremy Polanco added 11 points, while Xavier Townes and Ezana Negusse contributed 10 and nine points, respectively.
Bergen's depth proved to be a key factor, as the Bulldogs received scoring contributions from multiple players and totaled 16 assists as a team. Jarris Bertram posted a strong all-around effort with 12 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, helping anchor Bergen's interior play.
Defensively, Bergen limited Luzerne to 37.3 percent shooting from the field and forced key stops down the stretch to maintain control of the game.
The win highlights Bergen's balanced offensive attack and commitment to rebounding and team defense as the Bulldogs continue their season.
