Bergen Community College Women’s Basketball Battles Through 2025-26 Season
PARAMUS, NJ – The Bergen Community College Bulldogs women's basketball team concluded the 2025-26 season with resilience and determination, competing in a challenging schedule that saw the Bulldogs finish 4-17 overall and 2-16 in conference play.
Despite facing tough competition throughout the year, Bergen continued to showcase individual development and competitive spirit on both ends of the floor.
Fonquasia Slade emerged as the team's leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 13.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game while starting 16 of 20 contests. Slade recorded 279 total points and pulled down 203 rebounds, providing a consistent inside presence for the Bulldogs throughout the season.
Tiara Duran added a strong perimeter threat, averaging 10.2 points per game and knocking down a team-high 46 three-pointers. Duran also contributed 52 assists, helping to facilitate the offense while stretching opposing defenses from beyond the arc.
Ariana Garo made an immediate impact in her eight appearances, averaging 11.0 points and 3.3 assists per game. Her ability to handle the ball and create scoring opportunities gave Bergen an additional offensive spark during conference play.
Melony McCormick contributed 8.0 points and 6.9 rebounds per game in nine appearances, while Sonja Syla added 4.7 rebounds per contest and provided valuable minutes in the frontcourt. Giuliana Scully chipped in 74 total rebounds over 20 games, helping anchor the team on the glass.
As a team, Bergen averaged 45.0 points per game and collected 848 total rebounds on the season. The Bulldogs remained active defensively, recording 138 steals and 38 blocked shots.
Though the record does not fully reflect the effort and growth displayed throughout the campaign, the Bulldogs continued to compete with intensity and commitment. With valuable experience gained this season, Bergen Community College Bulldogs looks ahead to building momentum for the 2026-27 season.
